Civic Orchestra Concert
Brian Wilson will be featured in the Lorain County Community College Civic Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011 in LCCC’s Stocker Arts Center.

Wilson will perform the “Concerto in C Minor for Piano and Orchestra K.491” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Wilson has been active in the Northeast Ohio area as a pianist and organist and is the director of Music at St Vincent de Paul Church in Elyria.  He has recently joined the faculty of LCCC in the Arts and Humanities division. William Davis will conduct the concert.

LCCC Civic Concert Band to Hold Free Performance

The LCCC Civic Concert Band will perform at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center. This concert is free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.lorainccc.edu/stocker and click on “Arts and Humanities.”

 

Teen Greens Competition to be Featured at Community Dinner

Teenagers will put their kitchen skills to the test as they go head-to-head to find out who can make the best greens.

The free community dinner and teens green contest will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at the House of Healing Church Hall, 1417 West Ave., Elyria.

The competition is sponsored by Eden Vision, Lorain County Community College, Oberlin College, Save Our Children, Boys and Girls Club and the House of Healing.

The main dish will be prepared by local entrepreneur Ed Riggins. The featured speaker will be Gary Paul Nabhan. Groups of teens from around the county will compete to create the best greens dish, to be served with the night’s meal.

The community event will include information on healthy eating and services offered by local businesses, as well as a way for neighbors to get to know one another.

Gift cards will be awarded to the top three teams in the greens competition.

LCCC’s 32nd Annual Spring Choral POPS Spectacular

Lorain County Community College’s Collegiate Chorale, Vocal Jazz Singers, and Civic Chorale will present the “32nd Annual Spring Choral POPS Spectacular!” at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 in LCCC’s Stocker Arts Center.

 The concert will be conducted by Nancy Davis, LCCC's director of Choral Music Performance. The program will include the musical favorites “Skylark,” “Ja-Da,” “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” “J’entends le Moulin,” “And So It Goes,” and jazz arrangements of Faure’s “Pavane,” and “Flight of the Bumblebee.” An added attraction in this year’s concert will be a special student talent showcase segment performed by LCCC’s talented music majors.
