Library’s JAZZ JAM celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month
For its third year, the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library is swinging out and blaring its horns to the up-tempo as it encourages the public to observe Jazz Appreciation Month with fun-filled FREE activities:
• Saturday, April 9, 2011 (Noon – 4:30 p.m.): Celebrate JAZZ JAM with a total of eight bands playing throughout the day in the Wintergarden and Huntington Meeting Room at Main Library, 325 Michigan St. From 1-3 p.m., a Children’s “Bang a Drum” workshop is scheduled in the Children’s Library Program Room, located on the second level of Main Library.
• Wednesday, April 13 (11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.) Celebrate JUNIOR Jazz Jam, an afternoon of pure jazz performed by the talented Toledo Public School student musicians of Byrnedale and Deveaux Middle Schools, in the Wintergarden of Main Library, 325 Michigan St.
The Library’s Jazz Jam is sponsored by the Professional Musicians of Northwest Ohio, Local 15-286; Friends of the Library, and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library. The Library’s JUNIOR Jazz Jam is supported and presented by Toledo Public Schools and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
