Local Germanic and other ethnic music will be heard continuously throughout the weekend as a wide range of performers take to the Wein Garten and Hofbräuhalle and Fest Zelt entertainment areas – the latter featuring a large 56’x40’ wooden dance floor covered by a main tent spanning 100’x265’ without poles. Just like what you’d find at the Oktoberfest in Munich!
In the words of Timothy Pecsenye, festival chair, “Music is the heartbeat of the festival. And we’re particularly looking forward to showcasing some of the most talented musicians and singers in the genre, featuring our own local group, Holzhacker Buam, all weekend in the Fest Zelt tent, along with the first-time appearance of Alpen Echos from Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday, August 28.
“We’re also having Spass and The Martin Brothers Plus Band back again (both hailing from Detroit, Michigan). And, strolling the grounds as she did last year will be fest-favorite Peggy Müller – a button box virtuoso from Germantown, Wisconsin.”
On a special note, local German and Swiss choruses, the Teutonia Männerchor and the Toledo Swiss Singers, will provide the sonic backdrop for the 2010 German-American Festival German Worship Service. Scheduled for Sunday, August 29th at 10:30 a.m., this gathering will be highlighted by liturgy and hymns sung in German, accompanied by a Sermon in English. Individuals attending this free service will also receive free admission to the festival.
“The Fest Zelt, Wein Garten and Hofbräuhalle stages will be running entertainment concurrently with festival hours on Friday and Saturday,” Pecsenye said. “Polka Floyd – an accordion-driven version of the innovative and legendary rock group Pink Floyd – performs on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.”

Festival hours: Friday, August 27, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Saturday, August 28, 2 p.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday, August 29, Noon to 11 p.m.
