The Knight Academy earns Healthy Ohio Award
May 27, 2010: The Knight Academy has earned a bronze award from the Healthy Ohio Buckeye Best Awards program for making health a priority through school programs or policies promoting good nutrition, physical activity and tobacco prevention. The academy is a charter school for boys and girls in grades six through eight.
The Healthy Ohio Buckeye Best Awards program is sponsored by the Ohio Department of
Health (ODH) and the American Cancer Society (ACS), Ohio Division, and the Ohio Association of Health, physical Education, Recreation and Dance(OAHPERD).
“This award is confirmation that The Knight Academy places a high priority on healthy students,” said Tom Baker, president of the Knight Academy. “The award is based on our school's implementation of programs and activities recommended as best practices in health by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
The Knight Academy is located at 110 Arco Drive off of Hill Avenue east of Byrne Road, Toledo. Established in 2008, the school offers advanced courses in science, language, and technology, as well as an extended school day and school year.
