Toledo Community Foundation awards grants totaling $352,000     

May 5, 2010 – The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. recently approved grants totaling $352,000 from two Funds to 26 area nonprofit organizations.  One fund which recently granted awards is the Fran and Dick Anderson Community Support Fund. Established in late 2009 for the sole purpose of supporting the operations of charitable organizations that may be suffering from the recent economic downturn or other special circumstances, the following grants have been awarded in the second round of decisions from this fund to support these organizations’ operations:

  • Bittersweet Inc. - $10,000
  • Boyer-Riverfront Inc. - $5,000
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo - $30,000
  • Campaign for Migrant Worker Justice - $10,000
  • Central Catholic High School – $10,000
  • Cherry Street Mission Ministries - $20,000
  • Diabetes Youth Services - $5,000
  • Hospice of Northwest Ohio - $10,000
  • Kids Unlimited, Inc. - $5,000
  • Little Sisters of the Poor - $5,000
  • Lucas County CASA Program - $5,000
  • Mobile Meals of Toledo, Inc. - $10,000
  • Mom's House, Inc. - $5,000
  • Partners in Education - $10,000
  • St. Paul's Community Center - $5,000
  • Sunshine Foundation, Inc. - $20,000
  • Sylvania Area Family Services, Inc. - $5,000
  • The Victory Center - $5,000
  • Toledo Area Ministries - $20,000
  • Toledo Day Nursery - $5,000
  • Toledo Opera Association - $15,000
  • Toledo Orchestra Association, Inc. - $100,000
  • Toledo Repertoire Theatre - $2,000
  • The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio - $10,000

Grants have also been awarded from the Stranahan Supporting Organization of the Toledo Community Foundation to support the operations of the following organizations:

  • Beach House Family Shelter - $7,000
  • Family House - $18,000

The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of our community to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families in our area.  In existence since 1973, the Foundation now has nearly 500 funds with assets of approximately $135 million.  The Foundation provides philanthropic services for individuals, families, businesses and corporations to meet their charitable giving needs.
