Governor, other candidates preview 2010 races

COLUMBUS, Jan. 28, 2010 (AP): Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland is facing re-election at a time when the state still hasn't pulled itself out of a struggling economy.

Strickland is scheduled to talk about his priorities Thursday at a political preview session for journalists organized by The Associated Press. The Democrat has vowed to bring new jobs to Ohio, offering $40 million to invest in companies that make solar panels or other advanced energy products.

A poll released this month found that 51 percent of likely Ohio voters would support Republican John Kasich in November's election, compared with 45 percent for Strickland and with 5 percent undecided.

Other scheduled speakers include Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, who is making a bid for the U.S. Senate by challenging Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher, her opponent in May's Democratic primary.
