Tom Baker, president of The Knight Academy, said that the event is open to anyone in the community, particularly families interested in learning more about the school, as well as families of current students. The school is housed in a two-story building with nine classrooms on the main floor. A music room and cafeteria will be housed on the second floor. The new location also features a separate gymnasium that will be used for physical education classes five days a week as well as athletic competitions.
The open house will feature tours and student entertainment. Admissions information also will be available. The academy currently is enrolling students for next school year. Baker announced that the added space available in the new building will support their plan to offer classes for students entering fifth grade beginning next school year.
Baker said that the building previously housed a commercial business. The interior was completely gutted and reconfigured to accommodate the school. “The classrooms are larger to accommodate our growing student enrollment, and each has the latest technology, including Smartboards and projectors,” he said.
The Knight Academy offers advanced courses in science, language, and technology, as well as an extended school day and school year. Its mission is to provide a superior educational experience focusing on academic preparation, and character and physical development.
