• Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Republican Attorney General Mike Cox and Republican Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land all will be in their final year of office in 2010 because of term limits. Voters will pick replacements in November.

• Twenty-nine members of the 38-seat state Senate can't run for re-election because of term limits. Among those leaving the chamber at the end of 2010 are Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop and Democratic leader Mike Prusi.

• Thirty-four members of the 110-seat state House can't run for re-election because of term limits. Among those leaving the chamber at the end of 2010 will be Democratic House Speaker Andy Dillon and Republican leader Kevin Elsenheimer. Another seat will be open because of the death of Rep. Mike Simpson, a Democrat from Jackson County's Blackman Township.
