Art rep from Ohio U. visit various TPS high schools

According to José Luna, of TPS, on Nov. 23 and Nov. 24, 2009, the Office of Bilingual Education of Toledo Public Schools hosted Ms. Rose Basile, Assistant Director of Fine Arts Department at Ohio University, Athens.

Basile visited four Toledo Public School High Schools with an eye on recruiting talented Latino art students. On Monday, Basile talked with art students at Bowsher and Libbey high schools. On Tuesday, she spoke with students at Waite and Woodward high schools.

Basile gave presentations on the Arts Department at Ohio University. She spoke of the scholarships available at every high school. But students need to make future plans, starting in the ninth grade. She also spoke of the opportunities to study aboard and the wide variety of careers that can accompany an art degree.
