Dr. José Salinas gives presentation on migrant education at Lourdes College

On Nov. 11, 2009, Lourdes College hosts a special presentation on assisting migrant youth achieve a quality education. The event is being sponsored by the College’s Diversity Awareness and Action Committee and will be held in the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Guest speaker for the event will be Dr. José Salinas, Director of the Ohio Migrant Education Center. Joining him in the presentation will be University of Toledo student Yvette Villanueva, who was previously featured on NBC’s Dateline.

Dr. Salinas is a child of former migrant farm workers and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at The University of Findlay. He has served on special committees for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Migrant Education on policy issues and has authored and co-authored several journal articles on migrant and Latino related topics.
