Business Leaders can Improve Skills through the Take 5 Leadership Development Series at LCCC

Effective leadership stems from effective communication. Business leaders looking to brush-up or learn new skills for dealing with employees should attend “The Essentials of Leadership” workshop from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center at Lorain County Community College.

The workshop is hosted by Lorain County Community College’s [email protected] office and will discuss the how to increase effectiveness through team motivation and how leaders can get the most from interactions in less time. The program is part of the Take 5 Leadership Development Series.

A second workshop, “Retaining Talent,” will reveal strategies to keep leaders from losing their best and brightest employees. The program will help attendees develop a plan to reduce voluntary turnover and to increase the quality of job discussions with employees. “Retaining Talent” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center.

“This series is new this year,” said Julie Cantrell, program coordinator for LCCC’s Entrepreneurship Innovation Institute.  “We are hosting the leadership series in conjunction with the Take 5 Business breakfast seminar series as a way provide added value to the seminars. Each leadership topic correlates to a Take 5 seminar topic.  As an outreach to businesses in the community we continue our efforts to provide seminar topics that are timely and relevant to business needs,”

Workshops coming in the New Year include: “Boosting Business Results” on Jan. 5, 2010; “Leading in Turbulent Times” on Feb. 9; “Essential Interviewing Skills” on March 9; “Retaining Talent” (encore presentation) on April 13; “The Legal Side of Management: Part I” on May 4; “The Legal Side of Management: Part II” on June 8; and “Rapid Decision Making” on July 13.
