Finkbeiner and Affirmative Action Contract Compliance discusses City of Toledo Minority Business goals

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner and Affirmative Action Contract Compliance employees hosted a press conference on Nov. 2, 2009 at Government Center, to discuss City of Toledo Minority Business goals and accomplishments. In attendance was Gary Johnson of the Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

According to Mayor Finkbeiner, the City of Toledo Office of Affirmative Action Contract Compliance has developed “a comprehensive Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification process to encourage those businesses owned and controlled by minorities to provide information reinforcing the adequacy of their resources for the work in their designated construction or service areas.”

‘With this belief, in April 2008, the Office of AA/CC and I initiated an Administrative Policy and Procedure (APP#13) that increased MBE program goals. The new goal for contracts for construction-related projects is 15 percent,…but this ‘goal was exceeded by over 5-10 percent,’” said Finkbeiner.

Director Calvin Brown and his team have done a commendable job and I stand behind the work the AA/CC has accomplished,” concluded Finkbeiner.
