COMMUNITY PROGRAM ANSWERS QUESTIONS ABOUT QUITTING TOBACCO USE, NOV. 18
MAUMEE, Oct. 15, 2009 — The Tobacco Treatment Center at St. Luke’s Hospital will host Learning About Quitting Tobacco on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the hospital’s Auditorium A at 5901 Monclova Road , Maumee .

“Quitting tobacco use is a process, and it takes planning. Very few people wake up one morning and decide to quit tobacco and succeed in breaking the habit the first time,” explained Debbie Matthews, a certified tobacco treatment specialist and the supervisor of the Tobacco Treatment Center.

This free community program will provide information to help participants make decisions about quitting tobacco use and the tools to put together a quit plan. Those tools include:

• Discovering the health, social and financial benefits of quitting;

• Identifying personal reasons for quitting;

• Learning how secondhand smoke affects loved ones’ health;

• Identifying smoking triggers;

• Learning about proven quit-tobacco therapies, like nicotine replacement therapy and stress management.

To attend Learning About Quitting Tobacco, call 419-897-8484. Participants can also register online at www.stlukeshospital.com.
