Governor Ted Strickland has issued a proclamation declaring October National
Arts & Humanities Month—“The arts and humanities play a unique role in the lives of our families, our communities and our country,” said Strickland.
The Ohio Arts Council joins hundreds of arts organizations and communities around the nation in celebrating National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM) in October.
NAHM has been celebrated since 1993 and provides an opportunity for people to participate in the arts offered in their communities.

Ohio Arts Council approves 15 Grants totaling $53,676
At a public meeting on September 24, 2009, the Ohio Arts Council Board
approved the second round of grants for fiscal year 2010 and grant
ratifications for fiscal year 2009.
The Ohio Arts Council awarded 15 grants totaling $53,676 to support arts organizations and arts programs across Ohio. These grants have not been announced previously.
Together with recommendations approved in June, the Council Board has approved 522 grants totaling $5,071,573 for fiscal year 2010 after reviewing 679 requests for $17,201,427.
Organizations that receive OAC funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds. In general, for every state tax dollar invested, $52 is raised in matching funds by recipient organizations.
