Fox to highlight Mummies exhibition, Oct. 9

Detroit: Celebrate the world debut of The Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato exhibition with former President of México Vicente Fox at the Gran Noche de Estreno World Debut Preview Event on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Detroit Science Center.

Like the accidental mummies, Fox came from humble beginnings in Guanajuato, México and went on to achieve international fame. Fox is known as a visionary leader who played a vital role in México’s democratization. He served as President of México from 2000-2006.

The Accidental Mummies of Guanajuato is a 10,000 square-foot exhibition that will open to the public on Oct. 10, 2009 in Detroit before embarking on a limited three-year tour across the United States. Featuring 36 accidental mummies on loan from the Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato, the exhibition combines science, history and cultural anthropology to immerse the visitor in the world of a Mexican city over 100 years ago where deceased residents naturally mummified in their crypts.

This festive celebration will be the very first time Guanajuato’s famed accidental mummies will be seen in the United States. Tickets to the event are $125 per person or $200 per couple, and are available by calling 313.577.8400, ext. 432.
