‘One Peace’ celebrating ‘Day of Peace,’ Sept. 19
Livonia: In honor of the United Nations International Day of Peace, ONE PEACE, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting, “Creating a World That Works for All” on Saturday, September 19th, 2009, at Schoolcraft VisTa Tech Center, 18600 Haggerty Rd., Livonia, MI, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Open to the public, the program will feature guest speaker Dr. Sharif Abdullah, author of the award winning book, “Creating a World That Works for All, and “The Power of One- Authentic Leadership in Turbulent Times.”
Founder and president of the Commonway Institute in Portland, Oregon, he has shared his work in over 30 countries, helping nearly 100 different cultures and groups around the world. Dr. Abdullah believes that through a profound shift in consciousness we can bring about the necessary changes for creating peace and inclusively in our communities and in the world.
“Creating a society that works for all is a sacred act. We are stronger than our fears, and better than our limitations,” Abdullah says. Attendees will also be led in “insightful meditations” by Kathy Bindu Henning, Present Moment Meditation, and Rev. Matthew E. Long, Peace Unity Church and Holistic Center.
The program will include local poet philosopher and author Willowbei Eversole, a variety of local musicians, and video presentations that will guide participants in experiencing peace, participants are invited to wear logo-free white clothing, representing the oneness that we share as humanity.
