Lourdes welcomes panel of counselors from Puerto Rico
On June 8, 2009, Lourdes College welcomes a panel of guidance counselors from various schools throughout Puerto Rico. As part of its ongoing strategic plan, aimed in part at providing educational and learning experiences to students outside of the region, Lourdes College, Sylvania, will share opportunities available to students abroad.
The school counselors will meet with a host of faculty and administrators who will share information about Lourdes College and discuss the opportunities available to students living in Puerto Rico. The day begins with breakfast in the Ebeid Student Center at 8:30 a.m. and follows with a campus tour of Lourdes’ including visits to the Advising Center, Appold Planetarium, the Center for Professional Studies, the Flask Nursing Center and the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center.
“As a United States territory, Puerto Rico is a terrific fit for extending educational opportunities to students,” notes Roseanne Gill-Jacobson, Vice President for Student Services. “With 85% of Puerto Rican citizens being Catholic, it is fitting to offer a Lourdes College education steeped in the Catholic Franciscan tradition to these talented individuals.”
In August, representatives from Lourdes will travel to Puerto Rico to attend follow up meetings and to learn about the school systems and student needs within the country.
