Nominations being accepted for Diamante Awards
May 29, 2009: Like La Prensa, the Diamante Awards celebrates its 20th year of supporting the Toledo area Latino community.
This year’s ceremony takes place at the Franciscan Theatre & Conference Center of Lourdes College on Friday, September 11, 2009.

Nominations are being accepted through July 14, 2009, for the following Diamante Awards: Latino/Latina Youth Leadership, Latino/Latina Adult Leadership, Corporation/Community Agency, and Friend of the Latino Community
In a press release received from Lourdes College, Sylvania, it was stated that “winners are chosen based on recognition of exemplary leadership and achievements within the Latino community or community at large, demonstrated excellence in their fields, dedication and commitment in an ethical and inclusive fashion and modeling qualities and behaviors of a mentor for youth and the community.”
The nominating committee is comprised of individuals representing each supporting college/university— Kelly Dilworth (Lourdes College), Alexis DeAnda (Owens Community College), Connie Weaver (Bowling Green State University), and Cecilia Rivera (University of Toledo)—also, at large, Margarita De León and Sonia Troche (Adelante, Inc.).
