1 After interviewing over 200 people from three different countries, William Holstein makes an argument in defense of Rick Wagoner as a change agent for the company, having made an historic effort to transform GM into a globally competitive company.
He disagrees with the President Obama’s recent actions of firing Wagoner. This will be particularly timely after the announcements of the Twinsburg stamping plant. William Holstein addresses an audience at The City Club of Cleveland, at noon, Friday, May 15., 2009.
William Holstein investigates the role of GM in our current economy, like the fact that GM is 1% of the United States’ GNP. This includes not just lower-skilled manufacturing jobs but high paying, white-collar jobs as well.
Holstein looks at the affects of losing a company like General Motors on not just various facets of the auto industry-manufacturing, distribution and sales, but other industries like marketing and the technology infrastructure companies like HP and Cisco as well, and what the fall of GM would mean for these other companies.
Tickets are $18 for members and $30 for non-members. Lunch is included. Tickets can be purchased by calling The City Club at 216.621.0082 or visiting the website at www.cityclub.org
