Freshman Felipe Martínez wins grappler title
Columbus: In the 72nd annual Ohio state wrestling tournaments, March 5-7, 2009, Freshman Felipe Martínez of St. Paris Graham Local defeated two Seniors and two Juniors—three by pins—to become the first Latino Freshman to win the state wrestling championship in Division II.

Martínez is originally from Genoa, Ohio, but his family moved to the St. Paris area several years ago. He has been wrestling since the age of 5; his brother, Joseph, also has years of wrestling experience.
Martínez’s team—St. Paris Graham Local—dominated Division II, with 7 of its wrestlers winning championships. The school totaled 282 points, followed by Uhrichsville Claymont with 81.0 points; Hunting Val. Univ. School with 80.5 points; Toledo Central Catholic with 47.0 points; and Oak Harbor with 46.0 points.
