College Tech Prep students at Terra, March 10
The Northwest Ohio Tech Prep Regional Showcase will bring together many of the area’s best and brightest teens at Terra Community College in Fremont, OH on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. College Tech Prep students will work in teams to showcase their knowledge and skills in eight technical areas such as business and multimedia, networking, engineering, law and public safety, and health science.
These student projects, which reflect some of the latest technology in their fields, will be presented for judging to a panel of area business, industry, and education representatives. Teams of two to six students will compete for the top spot in several categories. Students have an opportunity to compete individually to showcase their research, writing, and presentation skills.
The judging will occur from 9:30 a.m. until noon in the Student Activity Center at Terra Community College. The media and public are welcome to view the student projects and speak with the contestants directly following judging at approximately noon. Awards will be presented at 1:00 p.m. Regional Showcase awards will include trophies and scholarships for category winners and runners-up.
The Greater Northwest Ohio Tech Prep consortium is one of 23 College Tech Prep consortia in the state and provides services to Career and Technical Education programs throughout Northwest Ohio, including: Four County Career Center, Millstream Tech Center, Oregon City Schools, Penta Career Center, Sylvania Schools, Toledo Public Schools, and Washington Local Schools. College Tech Prep programs in those schools provide students with technical coursework that is aligned with college coursework as well as rigorous academics.
