The Latino community was well represented with members of CHIP, The Hispanic Fund, Mexican Mutual Society, y la Familia Arredondo, who graced several tables. U.S. Congresswoman Betty Sutton, with husband Doug Corwan, joined the celebrations with their warm and generous enthusiasm.
Joel Arredondo was present with a family contingency of about a dozen and everyone was very honored and pleased to see one of their family being honored. Among the many hats that Joel has carried on his broad shoulders are the President of Lorain City Council, President of CHIP, President of Mexican Mutual Society, officer of The Hispanic Fund, and Board of Directors of the Greater Foundation of Lorain County.
The Latino community responded with the largest attendance at the Difference Makers Gala, extremely pleased that Latino participation was recognized in one of its leaders. The group of family and friends went on to celebrate at La SALA Cocktail Lounge and Night Club, downtown Lorain.
The evening commenced with hors d’oeuvres at 6:00pm, with guests lingering well past the closure at 10:00pm—everyone complimented the hosts and sponsors.
Kristen Jones, a spokesperson, noted that Leadership Lorain County will shortly begin next year’s nominations and planning for the annual gala event. It is the 6th year that Leadership Lorain County has held the Difference Makers Gala to recognize leadership and raise funds for their organization.
