Letter to the Editor:

I’m writing to La Prensa due to a situation that is going on at my church, SS. Peter and Paul.

On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, everybody was in shock when Deacon Alfredo Díaz read to us—the congregation that attended services—a letter from Bishop Leonard Blair announcing that Father Isidro Ramírez Mendoza would no longer be serving our Parish.

Moreover, the Deacon—nor anyone else at SS. Peter and Paul—did not give us a clear explanation why Father Ramírez Mendoza was taken out of the church and according Deacon Díaz, “this was a final decision!”

I believe we have the right, as parishioners of SS. Peter and Paul, to learn the reason behind this decision.

Father Isidro was a very good servant of God—the church was getting fuller and fuller every Sunday, and you can ask everyone there. We also were given another Spanish Mass at 8:00am on Sunday. 

Priests like Father Ramírez Mendoza are what we need in our Parish. Father Isidro kept me awake during the service and Mass was something that I was anticipating each week—just to listen to him and his sermon.

I’m so upset and I believe everybody is right now.  Is there anything that can be done?—I will really appreciate knowing.
