Ohio electors cast ballots for Obama, Biden

COLUMBUS, Dec. 15, 2008 (AP): A slate of Ohio's 20 electors cast their ballots for president and vice president.

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner convened the 52nd Ohio Electoral College at noon Monday in the Ohio Senate.

Ohio's 20 electoral votes were cast by electors representing Barack Obama and Joe Biden, the presidential and vice presidential candidates who received the most votes in November.

Ohio electors included Gov. Ted Strickland and Ohio Democratic Party chairman Chris Redfern. Also, Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz.  

The results go the president of the U.S. Senate, the U.S. archivist and federal court in Columbus.

Electors in 50 states and the District of Columbia cast 537 votes Monday. A majority of 270 required is for election.
