3 groups from Ohio invited to inaugural parade

COLUMBUS, Dec. 8, 2008 (AP): Three groups from Ohio have been invited to march in the Presidential Inaugural Parade for Barack Hussein Obama in Washington. D.C.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Monday that the Southern Ohio Ladies Aside, the Cleveland Firefighters

Memorial Pipes and Drums, and the Ohio State University Marching Band have been asked to be part of the Jan. 20, 2009 parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following Obama’s swearing-in ceremony.

Ohio State has accepted the invitation. The band's Assistant Director Jon Waters says all 225 band members will attend. The band previously marched for Presidents Herbert Hoover, Richard Nixon, George H.W. Bush, and twice for George W. Bush.

Groups from across the nation were invited to participate based on applications including résumés, videos, and recommendations.
