Diocese of Toledo celebrates Christmas Season
December 12, 2008: The Diocese of Toledo celebrates the Christmas season with the following events scheduled Dec. 13, 2008 – January 4, 2009, at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, located at 2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo:

Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration: Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008: 7:00 am-Mañanitas - Morning serenade to Our Lady, 9:00 am - Rosary, 10:00 am - Mass, 11:30 am – Reception; main celebrant: Most Reverend Robert W. Donnelly, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Toledo.

Advent Penance Service: Sunday, Dec. 14, 2:00 pm.

Nativity of the Lord: Wednesday, Dec. 24, 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass (Folk Group);
Main celebrant: Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Bishop of Toledo; Wednesday, Dec. 24: Mass at Midnight (Cathedral Choir and Brass Ensemble. Music begins at 11:00 p.m.);
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, 11:00 a.m. (organ and cantor); main celebrant: Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Bishop of Toledo.

Feast of the Holy Family: Saturday, Dec. 27, 4:30 p.m. Vigil (organ and cantor); Sunday, Dec. 28, 9:00 a.m. (Folk Group) and 11:00 a.m. (organ and cantor).

Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God: Thursday, January 1, 2009, 9:00 a.m. (organ and cantor).

Epiphany of the Lord: Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009: 4:30 p.m. Vigil (organ and cantor); Sunday, Jan. 4, 9:00 a.m. (Folk Group).

SS. Peter and Paul celebrates el Día de la Virgen de Guadalupe with new appointments
Dec. 12, 2008: On the blessed day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Bishop Leonard Paul Blair, Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo, has announced the following personnel appointments in the Toledo-area diocese, effective immediately:

Reverend Gerald Knueven as Parish Chaplain Pro Tem of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Toledo;

Deacon Alfredo Díaz as Pastoral Leader Pro Tem of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Toledo, in addition to his duties as Vicar for Deacons; and

Deacon Jesús Villagomez is granted Senior Status. Deacon Villagomez served at Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Toledo.
These appointments followed the departure of Padre Isidro Ramírez Mendoza, who had replaced the recently-retired Father Richard Notter.

Departure of Father Ramírez Mendoza

Bishop Blair announced the SS. Peter and Paul Parish new appointments in a letter to the parish on Dec. 5, 2008, stating that “I am sorry to inform you that Father Isidro Mendoza will no longer be serving as the Administrator of Saints Peter and Paul Parish. He was with us in the Diocese of Toledo on an experimental basis from his religious order in México. Regretfully, circumstances did not permit this arrangement to continue.”
Padre Ramírez Mendoza was appointed to this position in August of 2008 and was from
Canada de Caracheo in the State of Guanajuato, México. See related story on Padre Ramírez Mendoza.

On Nov. 20, 2008, Bishop Blair also announced the granting of Senior Status to Deacon René S. González, who has served at St. Michael Parish in Gibsonburg.
