Grinches steal Christmas decorations in Canton

CANTON, Ohio, Dec. 8, 2008 (AP): It's beginning to look a lot less like Christmas in Canton, where several homes lost yard decorations in a rash of thefts early Sunday.

One man says he woke to find $1,000 worth of holiday trimmings missing from outside his house, including three large inflatable decorations, 10 light-up deer and two decorative lampposts.

Police say the items were taken between 2 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

On another street, two neighbors each lost a blowup snow globe and an inflatable Santa during roughly the same hours.

Elsewhere in the city, a woman said her blowup Nativity scene, 42-inch star and several lights were swiped on Sunday, and a man reported that two inflatable decorations valued at $150 were taken from his yard.
