Rotary Club supports Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, Inc. through food drive at Maumee Holiday Parade
The Maumee Rotary Club is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, Inc. (TNWOFB) at this year’s Maumee Holiday Parade. The Maumee Rotary Club is asking each family to bring at least two non-perishable food items to the holiday parade on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 6:30 p.m.
The TNWOFB and the Maumee Rotary Club will kick off the parade with members of the Maumee High School Rotaract Club and Maumee Rotarians walking along the parade route with shopping carts, borrowed from The Andersons, to collect donations from parade spectators.
The TNWOFB is in need of peanut butter, cereal, 100% juice, saltine crackers, canned meat, pork & beans, stews and soups, apple sauce, canned fruit and vegetables, dried beans, powdered milk, spaghetti sauce, ravioli, macaroni & cheese, Ramen noodles and other dry pasta, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine napkins. Unfortunately, the TNWOFB cannot accept any type of baby food, baby formula or home canned items.
Donations for this event can also be dropped off at the Maumee Senior Center, Maumee Branch of the Toledo Lucas County Library, Appliance Center, Illinois Ave. and Mr. Storage, Byrne Rd.
The Maumee Rotary is committed to the principle “Service Above Self.” Last year, the TNWOFB distributed food to more than 261,000 Toledo area residents, including more than 98,000 children throughout the eight counties it serves in Northwest Ohio.
