Voters give new life to Toledo science museum

TOLEDO, Nov. 5, 2008 (AP): Voters in Lucas County have approved a tax levy that will give new life to the city's kid-friendly science museum.

COSI Toledo shut down at the end of last year when it ran out of money after voters rejected a previous levy request.

Voters on Tuesday voted 53-47 percent for a special levy to reopen the facility and fund it for five years. The measure will add a little over $5 to the annual tax bill for the owner of a $100,000 home in Lucas County.

COSI had been in Toledo for 11 years before closing. The name is an acronym for Center of Science and Industry.

A sister COSI is in Columbus.
