Support group formed for gynecological cancer patients

Sylvania, Oct. 29, 2008: The ProMedica Cancer Institute, in partnership with the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, has formed a new support group for current and previous ovarian cancer patients, as well as patients with other gynecological cancers. The new group, “Getting Ovar It,” will allow members to discuss cancer issues, treatment and daily struggles that come from living with or recovering from a gynecological cancer. It will also provide emotional support in an environment where survivors can relate to one another and share their experiences, joys, fears and questions.

“Getting Ovar It” will meet for the first time on Thurs., Nov. 20, from 7 – 8:30 p.m., at the Hickman Cancer Center at Flower Hospital. It will continue to meet the third Thursday of the month at the same time and location through the remainder of 2008 and into 2009.

Teleconferencing is available for anyone who would like to participate in the support group, but cannot attend in person. The toll free number for teleconferencing is 866-248-0556. After being connected, enter room number *1231150* to enter the discussion.
