Michigan’s regional jobless rates for September

Oct. 23, 2008 (AP): Michigan’s regional seasonally unadjusted jobless rates for September ranged from a low of 6.5 percent in Ann Arbor to a high of 10.8 percent in Flint.

The state’s major labor market areas, their seasonally unadjusted jobless rates for September of 2008 and the change since August:

• Ann Arbor, 6.5 percent, up from 6.4 percent.
• Battle Creek, 8.2 percent, up from 8 percent.
• Bay City, 7.8 percent, up from 7.7 percent.
• Detroit-Warren-Livonia, 8.3 percent, down from 8.8 percent.
• Flint, 10.8 percent, up from 10.5 percent.
• Grand Rapids-Wyoming, 7.4 percent, unchanged.
• Holland-Grand Haven, 7.2 percent, unchanged.
• Jackson, 9.3 percent, up from 9.2 percent.
• Kalamazoo-Portage, 7.2 percent, up from 7.1 percent.
• Lansing-East Lansing, 7.1 percent, unchanged.
• Monroe, 9.5 percent, down from 10 percent.
• Muskegon-Norton Shores, 9.2 percent, up from 9.1 percent.
• Niles-Benton Harbor, 8.4 percent, up from 8.3 percent.
• Saginaw-Saginaw Township North, 8.9 percent, up from 8.5 percent.
• Upper Peninsula, 7.5 percent, down from 7.6 percent.
• Northeast Lower Michigan, 9.5 percent, up from 9.2 percent.
• Northwest Lower Michigan, 8.4 percent, up from 7.9 percent.
