Post office building to be named for Ohio marine

CHAGRIN FALLS, August 13, 2008 (AP): A post office building in a suburban Cleveland town will be named for a Marine who was killed in Iraq in January.

Twenty-four-year-old Sgt. Michael M. Kashkoush died from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Anbar province, just 10 days after arriving in Iraq. He is a 2001 graduate of Chagrin Falls High School.

The U.S. Postal Service says a dedication ceremony will be held Aug. 19 in Chagrin Falls. A granite marker honoring Kashkoush will be unveiled.

Republican U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette of Madison and Republican U.S. Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio pushed legislation through Congress to name the building for Kashkoush. They will attend the ceremony.

Kashkoush joined the Marines in 2003. He was a counterintelligence specialist.
