As networking, sharing and communicating through social Websites has become more publicly recognized, Lourdes College made sure it was not left behind. On August 1, 2008, the College will celebrate the one year anniversary of its own interactive social networking website, www.LourdesWorld.com
“LourdesWorld.com started out as a fun place for students, alumni, faculty and staff to interact. But in its first year, it has already evolved into something even more,” says Liz Boltz, Assistant Director of College Relations. “Our bloggers are sharing experiences and photos from around the world, so their observations and the lessons they’ve learned can reach an even larger audience.”
Similar to the likes of Facebook, MySpace and YouTube, LourdesWorld.com gives faculty, staff and students the ability to share photos, videos, podcasts and stories about their Lourdes College experience.
Working in conjunction with Thread Information Design, from August 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008, Lourdesworld.com received 35,205 page views with nearly 40% of all viewers to the Website being first time visitors.
Although designed specifically for students, alumni, and other members of the Lourdes community, the public is invited to participate by posting comments, reading blogs and listening to podcasts. “People who visit the site can join the larger conversation by debating issues, sharing opinions, and learning more about Lourdes,” continues Liz. “We’re always open to feedback from our visitors, which will be crucial in determining future enhancements to the site.”
