UT’s Department of Art hosts “The Work of Edith Franklin, A Life with, of, about, around, in Clay,”
The University of Toledo hosts “The Work of Edith Franklin: A Life with, of, about, around, in Clay,” July 13 through August 17, 2008. The exhibit will be held in The University of Toledo’s Center for the Visual Arts gallery, located at 620 Grove Place, next to the Toledo Museum of Art.

The art featured in the exhibit represent a retrospective of Ms. Franklin’s more than 60 years working with clay. There will also be new pieces as well.
Edith Franklin is a well-known artist and pottery expert in the Toledo area. She is a founding and active member of the Toledo Potters’ Guild. She has received a number of awards from local organizations including the Arts Commission, The Crosby Gardens Art Fair, The Athena Arts Society, and the Toledo Federation of Arts Societies, and she has been nominated twice for the Governor’s Award.
Visitors can meet Ms. Franklin at an artist’s reception Friday, July 18 from 6-9 p.m. She will guide a walking tour of her works from 7-8 p.m. The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
