Agocs also vowed to eat an extra bug if 44 teens sign up for the Summer Reading Club (SRC) too. Area kids have the opportunity to make Agocs eat 2 bugs this summer.

This will be Agocs’ first time eating a bug; she said she is both anxious and worried that the juveniles will meet the goal and she will have to eat the bugs!
“I’m not a big fan of bugs but I will do anything to get kids to read.” Agocs said. The unique dinner is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, at Birmingham Library, 203 Paine Avenue, Toledo. This is the scheduled first day of school for Toledo Public Schools.
SRC is a free program presented by the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library designed to encourage children and adults to catch the reading bug. Sign up at your local branch (teens can sign up online at toledolibrary.org)
*According to an Ohio State University Extension Fact Sheet on Entomology, over 1,000 insect species are eaten by human beings world wide. Many bugs are edible, nutritious, and easy to obtain, but not all insects can be ingested. Some insects are toxic and may create allergy problems. For more details, please call 419.259.5210
