Adam McCabe is the recipient of the Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship

TOLEDO, May 21, 2008: The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce that Adam McCabe of West Toledo is the recipient of a $1,500 Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship. This scholarship provides an annual, one-time award for graduating high school students of Hispanic heritage who are permanent residents of Buckeye CableSystem’s Toledo service area to attend an accredited post-secondary institution of their choice.

Mr. McCabe will graduate this month from St. Francis de Sales High School and will attend The University of Toledo this fall where he will major in Pharmacy.

While at St. Francis de Sales High School, Mr. McCabe was a member of the Teen Institute, Latin American Student Support Organization (LASSO), and a tutor. His community service involvement includes participating as a tutor at Grace Community Center and the Y.E.S. (Youth Elect Service) project.

The Scholarship was established by Buckeye CableSystem and Telemundo, one of the Spanish-language networks carried on Buckeye. Scholarship applicants are required to have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and submit an essay addressing the theme “I’m Proud to be a Hispanic-American in Ohio.”

Buckeye CableSystem serves more than 130,000 customers in the greater Toledo area, offering some 265 digital, high-definition, and analog channels of entertainments and information.  The locally owned firm also offers Buckeye Tel, residential telephone service, and Buckeye Express high-speed Internet access.

Applications for the Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship of the Toledo Community Foundation are available through the Guidance Departments of high schools in the Buckeye CableSystem Toledo service area, generally after the first of the year. Scholarship awards are announced in April.
