Health Care reform that’s worthy of U.S.-Americans

1

CLEVELAND: Sister Carol Keehan, DC, president & CEO of the Catholic Health Association of the United States, will provide background and context on the problems in the U.S. health care system and present the Catholic Health Association’s Vision for U.S. Health Care at noon on Friday, May 16, 2008, at The City Club of Cleveland. She will also discuss the prospects for reform in the current political environment and the related challenges and opportunities as a new Administration and Congress begin work in 2009.

In August 2007, Modern Healthcare magazine named Keehan to the top spot of their annual “100 Most Power People in Healthcare” list, the first time a woman has led the list.

Keehan has worked in administrative and governance positions at hospitals sponsored by the Daughters of Charity for more than 35 years. Most recently, she was the board chair of Ascension Health’s Sacred Heart Health System and served as president and CEO of Providence Hospital.

Keehan is a representative to the International Federation of Catholic Health Care Associations of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Health Care and has served on the several boards, including the Catholic Healthcare Partners; St. Agnes Hospital; SOAR! Support Our Aging Religious; and Care First/Blue Cross of Maryland and the National Capital Area.

Keehan’s numerous awards and honors include the American Hospital Association’s Trustee Award and The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Cross (Cross for the Church and Pontiff) bestowed by Pope Benedict XVI.

This Friday Forum is in partnership with the Sisters of Charity Health System.
