Waite and Woodward celebrate Cinco de Mayo

On May 2, Waite High School of East Toledo presented its annual Cinco de Mayo program at an Aud session. The keynote speaker was Emilio Ramírez, principal of Woodward High School. Ramírez is a 1991 graduate of Waite and the second Latino in Toledo to become a principal of a high school—the first was Richard Cervantes.

In his speech to the students, Ramírez defined “success” as the ability to “put off immediate gratification.”

Students involved in the program included: María Contreras, Marta Sandoval, María Urbieta, Krystyan Bennett, Patricia Castillo, Blanca Pecina, Victoria Escareño, Angela Martin, Rebecca Peña, Alma Palacios, and Maribel Sandoval.

Woodward High School of North Toledo hosted its Cinco de Mayo celebrations on May 5.
