OCHLA Awardees for the Distinguished Hispanic Ohioans and Nuestra Familia recognitions announced

Columbus: The Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs (OCHLA) announced the selected awardees for recognitions for 2008 during its monthly meeting. 

OCHLA is an organization that advises state government on issues affecting Latino Ohioans, connects the diverse Latino communities across the state, and builds the capacity of community organizations so they may better serve its fast growing Latino population. 

On April 18, 2008, ten Latino leaders will be bestowed the honor, along with three non-Latino individuals or organizations that have done their utmost in supporting and contributing to the Latino community in Ohio.

Each spring, commissioners award the "DHO" to Latinos in Ohio for their exemplary service, and the “Nuestra Familia” Award to non-Ohioans or non-Latinos who have in some way made a beneficial impact to the Hispanic community in Ohio.

An Award Gala to present the recognitions is scheduled for April 18^th, 2008 at 6:30 pm. The event, which is open to the entire community, takes place at the Renaissance Hotel, Third and Gay Streets, Downtown Columbus. The cost for dinner $50 per person, with a reception starting promptly at 5:30pm, followed by the Program and Dinner at 6:30 pm.
