Toledo:  Adelante’s Annual Latino Teen Leadership Conference was held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Highland Park Shelter House.

The event was organized by local area high school students, volunteers, Bowling Green State University Department of Service Learning, and Adelante staff; it was sponsored by the City of Toledo Youth Commission.

Students from Libbey, Waite, and Woodward High Schools have been participating in Adelante’s Teen Leadership Development Program for some time.

According to Adelante’s executive director Sonia Troche, the goal of the Latino Teen Leadership Conference is to expose, educate, and motivate the next generation of young Latino leaders.

The event youth organizers are depicted in the photograph above. Below: TPS’s José Luna, who spoke at the event, is shown with his wife, María.
