Lourdes College Life Lab receives conservation awards

On February 16, 2008, the Lourdes College Life Lab was presented with two awards at the League of Ohio Sportsmen’s annual convention and awards banquet. The awards are part of the League’s Conservation Achievement awards program which was developed by the National Wildlife Federation.


Lourdes’ Life Lab was presented with the Conservation Organization of the Year award. The Life Lab provides a setting for natural and environmental resource education in the spirit of St. Francis and offers science education instruction, activities and materials for pre-service education majors. The Life Lab also works to foster value-based environmental awareness in children and adults with community outreach activities such as its annual Summer Science Camp for youth.

Linda Penn, Program Coordinator for the Life Lab, received the Conservation Educator of the Year award. Linda was recognized for her commitment to conservation through education.

The League of Ohio Sportsmen is the official Ohio affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation. The League’s mission is to support conservation, restoration and education that promote the wise use and enjoyment of natural resources including sound wildlife management.
