Thinking about adoption?
Feb. 13, 2008: Starting in March, Toledo Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The National Center for Adoption Law and Policy at Capital University Law School, hosts the Adoption Academy, a program that offers prospective parents an objective source of information about the process of adoption.
The program consists of three, four-week tracks, each of which can be attended independently or as a complete series of 12 classes. All classes will be at The Toledo Hospital from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Webcasting of this program will also be made possible by generous support from Abbott Nutrition and its family of brands including Similac and Ensure.
· The CORE Track, an introduction to the adoption process featuring an overview of the process, a discussion about home study and the cost of adoption begins on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, and will meet each Wednesday for four weeks.
· The Academy’s Domestic Track, which covers the step-by-step domestic adoption process, the cultural aspects of adoption and preparation for the arrival of an adopted child, will meet each Wednesday for four weeks starting April 2, 2008.
· An International Track for parents who are considering adopting a child from another country covers the process of adopting in foreign countries, understanding government adoption policies, and addressing the child’s health care needs. The International Track runs from April 30-May 21, 2008.
Registration for each Track is $20 for the first person and $15 for each additional person. For more information or to register, please contact Toledo Children’s Hospital’s Community Outreach department at 419-291-3485.
