TBA’s Bill Meyer spearheads 15th Annual Salvation Army Appeal among attorneys
Some Santas ring bells to encourage donations to the Salvation Army kettles, but attorney Bill Meyer takes a different approach. Each year for 15 years, Bill has spearheaded a fund drive for the Salvation Army among his associates in the legal community.

This year’s Food Basket Appeal collected record donations of $12,216. Bill and Toledo Bar Association President Jim Irmen presented checks to Major Clyde Jones, Salvation Army area coordinator for Northwest Ohio on December 19. Major Jones explained that the Salvation Army served 3500 families this year, surpassing 2006 by 500 families. “We are still getting calls from needy families,” he said.
The TBA publicizes this fund-raising appeal through mailings to members and reminders in the Bar’s monthly newsletter. Additionally, Bill’s direct requests to colleagues yield an excellent response. “This project gives me so much pleasure,” Bill said. “I love watching the donations roll in every year.” As he has done for the last fifteen years, Bill offers his thanks and credits the success of the appeal to other members of the Toledo Bar.
The TBA is observing its 129th year of service to attorneys practicing in Northwest Ohio.
