Hispanic/Latino Alliance elects board officers

Toledo: The Hispanic/Latino Alliance of Greater Toledo met last week at The Twelve Inc., one of its founding members.

Members also include: southend-based founding organizations Adelante, Inc., Aurora González Community & Family Resource Center, FLOC, Northwest Ohio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center, and Viva South CDC. The city’s Hispanic Affairs Commission is also a member. Membership fees are $100.

Corporate bylaws were offered by Bob Vásquez, who was subsequently elected the organization’s first board president. Other elected board officers were: Dave Ibarra (Vice Pres.), Joe Balderas (Treas.), and Celso Rodríguez (Secretary).

According to Vásquez, the purpose of the alliance is set forth at its official Web site, www.hispaniclatinoallianceofgreatertoledo.org, which should be up and running in the near future.

The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2007 at the Aurora González Center, located at South Broadway Avenue.
