When you visit the Main Library at 325 Michigan St. in downtown Toledo, stop by the Children’s Library on the second floor to see the recently restored scale-model locomotive built by late Toledoan Herman Ziemann (1888-1970). Mr. Ziemann’s family loaned the wooden locomotive to the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.  The restored locomotive has long been an historic favorite with children visitors. A carpenter for the Pullman Company and a cabinetmaker for 32 years at Nickle Plate Railway, Ziemann designed the mahogany locomotive, complete with trainmen and passengers and wired for interior lighting.
