Annual Library Caldecott Adult Read-In on January 12

Help choose the local Caldecott winner and see how the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library’s selection compares with the actual Caldecott winner scheduled to be announced later at the American Library Association (ALA) mid-winter conference in Philadelphia.

This local event, in its 35th year, is designed for adults interested in book design and stories for children.  The Read-In is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Huntington Meeting Room at Main Library, 325 Michigan St., in downtown Toledo.

See the best in children’s picture books from 2007 all in one location!  Come out to compare favorites with other adults. The Caldecott Medal was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. The ALA awards it annually through its Library Service to Children, a division of the ALA, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

A potluck lunch is planned.  Participants are encouraged to bring a salad or dessert to share, and your own table service.  Beverages will be provided. Complimentary underground parking off Adams Street.

For more information, call 419.259.5207.
