Flower Hospital Auxiliary to sponsor competition for high school students

SYLVANIA, OH, Oct. 30, 2007: The Flower Hospital Auxiliary is accepting entries for its 15^th annual health care speech competition.  The program provides area high school students to explore and present information about health care issues that affect them and their peers. 

This year’s topic focuses on ‘teens revealing their private lives online.’

A panel of educators will review the entries for content to determine the finalists.  The chosen finalists will present their speeches at a competition on March 11, 2008, in the Medical Office Building Auditorium on the Flower Hospital campus.  Speeches will be judged on content, organization and delivery. 

Awards are: first prize, $500; second prize, $300; third prize, $200; and three $100 honorable mentions.

Students can obtain rules and entry forms from their school’s English, Health or Speech departments, or by contacting the Flower Hospital Auxiliary office at 419-824-1915.  Copies of completed speeches, along with official entry forms, must be received by Friday, Jan. 18, 2008 at the Flower Hospital Auxiliary office located at 5100 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, OH 43560.
