The Locke Branch Library will be closed beginning Monday, July 23 through Saturday, August 4, 2007, at its 806 Main St. location in order to move into a new building. Locke Branch is scheduled to reopen on Monday, August 6 at its new 10,000-square-foot location at 703 Miami St., near Jay Street in historic East Toledo.  This building was the final project in the Library’s 10-year capital program. 

Major funding for the new Locke location was obtained from a 10-year bond levy approved in 1995 by Lucas County voters to support capital improvements to Main Library and all 18 branch locations.  The new location provides greater accessibility, more space for print materials and computer resources, an outdoor reading garden and an expanded children’s area.  The new building also has a commons area for popular materials and a handicap-accessible community room.

Hours at the new Locke Branch location are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.  The branch phone number will remain the same: 419.259.5310.
