Kucinich raises $757,000 for Democratic presidential bid

(AP): Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich raised about $757,000 from April through June and had $213,200 cash on hand at the end of last month, according to financial reports filed Sunday, July 15, 2007, with the Federal Election Commission.

Fundraising for the Ohio congressman's campaign has topped $1.1 million for the year, but Kucinich has also spent $901,500 during that time, and he continues to trail his opponents.

Kucinich spent about $707,600 during the second quarter alone.

Democratic front-runners Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois are both on pace to raise between $90 million and $100 million by the end of the year.

More than 90 percent of the nearly 13,500 contributions made to Kucinich from April through June were $200 or less, his campaign said.

Kucinich has portrayed his lack of contributions as a positive, saying that he will not be beholden to special interests if he reaches the White House.
