High School Grads awarded scholarships at Mud Hens Game

June 12, 2007: The Northwest Ohio Chapter of Credit Unions enjoyed a night at the ball park while honoring two Toledo area high school students. Both the Northwest Ohio Chapter of Credit Unions and the Ohio Credit Union League awarded $6000 worth of scholarship money to two graduates at Tuesday night’s Toledo Mud Hens Game.

First place and a check for $2000 went to Rachel Rabb, a member of Champion Credit Union. Ms. Rabb’s essay also won the state level scholarship of $2500 awarded by the Ohio Credit Union League. Ms. Rabb plans to attend the University of Toledo in the fall.

Jonathan Bryan, a member of Erie Shores Credit Union, received second prize of $1500. He will be attending Kent State University this September.

Scholarships were awarded based on essays about consumer credit and tools credit unions offer to help maintain a good credit history.

The scholarships are awarded to students pursuing post high school studies of any kind including professional, vocational and academic studies, not limited to colleges and universities.

La Prensa and the Spanish American Organization will be awarding scholarships at a Toledo Mud Hens game on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Latino Scholarship Day.
